Employee Giving is a catchall phrase that encompasses a wide range of corporate activities designed to provide you and your employees with opportunities to get involved in philanthropy. These programs can take the form of volunteerism, direct payroll deductions to a charity of choice, or corporate matching programs, just to name a few.

MicroEdge SmartChangeSM is a customizable web-based platform that enhances the efficiency and increases the effectiveness of a company’s employee and community involvement programs. SmartChange is truly a one-stop-shopping solution for all employee programs. You can start with one group or region or program and expand as you go; there is no need to explain and advertise new websites or programs to employees, everything is in one place. For employees who can't access a computer, the system fully supports integration with a paper process


The SmartChange solution has three types of users,
each with a specific web portal:


Employee portal – Allows employees, retirees, family members to manage their community involvement.

Company/Administrator portal – Where the community involvement management team administers all aspects of the site and manages their programs.

Charity/Community portal – Allows charities/nonprofits to manage their donations, volunteer activities and interact with their donors via the smartchange.org website (free for charities to join).

MicroEdge SmartChangeSM has three modules
that work together or stand alone.

Each module includes the web portal views for all three types of users. More modules are to be added in the future. For now, we offer:

SmartChange Match – Allows participants the ability to log requests (managing rates/limits/rules) with automatic management of the rules (immediate verification notification).

SmartChange Volunteer – The administration function will suggest and manage volunteering opportunities (add, edit, delete) with easy-to-use forms for employees to apply or post opportunities, and apply for volunteer grants (‘dollars for doers’).

SmartChange Give – Campaigns and payroll deduction programs for campaigns to third parties such as the United Way, Charity AID, Disaster Relief, etc., as well as charity email promotion is possible with this module.
