Introduction to Essential GIFTS
Note: Introduction to Essential GIFTS classes will be taught using GIFTS 6.
What is this course?
This introduction class is ideal for Essential Gifts users and will focus on the key concepts that are the foundation of understanding Essential GIFTS. Clients will also experience hands-on use of Essential GIFTS. Class activities are designed to allow you to relate concepts to your organization's grant making and practice using the Essential GIFTS software.
How long is the course?
We offer a two-day, hands-on 'Intro to Essential GIFTS' class in New York or San Francisco. This class starts promptly at 9AM and run until approximately 5PM.
Attend this class if:
- Your organization has recently purchased Essential GIFTS
- You are a new employee at an organization currently using Essential GIFTS
- You have recently changed positions and are now working in the Essential GIFTS system
- You are currently using Essential GIFTS but are not sure you are taking full advantage of the features in Essential GIFTS
What will be covered?
The course is designed to provide an understanding of the functions and applications of Essential GIFTS software to your grantmaking program. Topics include key functions such as data entry, queries, correspondence, and generating standard reports. Participants will learn how to:

Develop & understand the importance of documenting your organization's workflow

Navigate in Essential GIFTS

Understand terminology needed for working in Essential GIFTS

Process Requests from receipt to final decision
|
|
Process Payments for Grants
|
|
Track requirements for Grants and Payments
|
|
Generate Letter & Email Correspondence
|
|
Search for Organizations, Requests, Payments & Requirements
|
|
Generate Standard Reports using the Reports Library
|
|
Create and maintain the Essential GIFTS Coding Structure
|
|
Search for and consolidate duplicate Organizations and Contacts
|
|
Create and maintain Letter and Email Templates
|
|
Determine which preference settings should be used at your organization
|
|
Setup and maintain Essential GIFTS user ID's
|
|
Obtain help from Technical Support, the Knowledgebase and Essential GIFTS Manuals

Student Prerequisites:
To be successful in the Introduction to Essential GIFTS class all attendees must possess the following:
|
Basic computer skills. Attendees should be comfortable with standard computer and Windows concepts, including right clicking, double clicking, click and drag, minimizing and maximizing windows, using CTRL and Shift to select multiple items.

Familiarity with your organization's grant making process. In order to fully take advantage of the Introduction to GIFTS class, it is critical that attendees be familiar with their organization's grant making processes. It is strongly recommended that clients have worked at your organization for at least one month prior to attending.

Cost:
- Members with current Maintenance and Support Contract - As of January 1, 2008 the cost is: $995
- Non-members - As of January 1, 2008 the cost is: $1,255
