MicroEdge and NPO Solutions join Merrill Lynch to launch the Merrill Lynch Community Charitable FundSM Program
MicroEdge and NPO Will Provide Grant Management Tools and Services for Donors Seeking Expert Philanthropic Guidance and Enhanced Social Impact
NEW YORK, NY – April 28, 2003 – MicroEdge Incorporated,
the leading provider of solutions and services for the grant making community, and a wholly owned
subsidiary of Advent Software
(NASDAQ:ADVS), today announced
it has partnered with Merrill Lynch (NYSE: MER)
and a group of community foundations to provide professional grant making tools and donor services to the
Merrill Lynch Community Charitable FundSM program (MLCCF).
MicroEdge, through its wholly owned subsidiary NPO Solutions
has been chosen to develop and manage the infrastructure and service bureau for this new national
donor advised fund. Through this program, donors will be able to capitalize on NPO’s extensive local
charity knowledge base and services and receive regional philanthropic guidance, previously unavailable
through donor advised funds.

NPO is providing three fundamental components for the MLCCF:
- NPPortal™ – NPPortal™ will serve as a web portal enabling Merrill Lynch’s Financial Advisors to research and create donor-advised funds on behalf of their clients. NPPortal was co-developed with Magner.Network, a partner of NPO Solutions.
- Central Service Bureau – The service bureau will provide fund accounting, reconciliation and full record keeping services and generate grant checks for donor advised funds under this program.
- Donor Central™ – Donor Central™ will provide donors with on-line access to their daily fund information, allowing them to measure charitable program impact, make grant suggestions and communicate with their chosen community foundation through the Internet.

The Merrill Lynch Community Charitable Fund
The MLCCF program is an innovative donor-advised fund service, linking a major financial services firm with a nationwide network of leading community foundations. The service allows clients, with the advice and guidance of a Merrill Lynch Financial Advisor as well as the skill and due diligence of a leading community foundation, to best match the client’s philanthropic goals with the charitable needs of the community.
