Industry-Leading Foundation Information Management System
Improves Workflow and Simplifies Fund Administration
New York - June 26, 2008 - MicroEdge, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Advent Software (NASDAQ: ADVS) and leading provider of solutions for the grantmaking community worldwide, announced today the general release of FIMS 12, a major update to the company’s foundation information management system.
FIMS is a fully-integrated enterprise technology solution that helps community foundations, faith-based organizations and education and scholarship foundations perform grants management, financial management and donor relationship management with one centralized, comprehensive system. Nearly 85% of the total assets of the community foundation market are managed with MicroEdge FIMS.
This latest release of FIMS includes more than 150 enhancements and maintenance items, including a variety of new features designed to improve ease of use and interoperability, streamline workflow, and simplify fund administration. Client feedback has always been an integral part of the development process at MicroEdge. Many of the enhancements in FIMS 12 were suggested through the company’s Enhancement Suggestion process, in which FIMS clients participate directly in the research and development process by reporting feedback and 'wish lists' that influence upgrades and ongoing development.

Key Enhancements in FIMS 12
- One-step interfund gift and grant processing improves workflow when processing interfund transactions. This feature simplifies the transaction process, reduces administrative tasks and provides a true connection between the interfund gift and interfund grant.
- Enhanced administrative fee calculations offer a host of options for applying fees. FIMS users now have the ability to calculate, compare and apply transaction-based fees, upfront minimum fees, prorated fees for new funds, master and sub-fund fees and more.
- Interoperability with third-party systems is enhanced through new import features that allow users to bring gift and grant data directly into FIMS from an external source, decreasing the amount of manual data entry and reducing the potential for errors.
- A variety of user interface improvements make FIMS easier and more user-friendly, particularly as it relates to grant adjustment routines, which now can be accessed from a single location.
- Improved financial management is achieved through auditable checking account reconciliation, which enables foundation finance professionals to maintain a true audit trail.
