A History of MicroEdge

Founded in 1985, MicroEdge is the world's leading provider of software and services to the giving community worldwide. MicroEdge solutions deliver a powerful, integrated, and open framework upon which effective charitable giving can be made.

Everything I do, everything that comes into the Foundation, goes into GIFTS. It's our Bible.
—Abell Foundation, MicroEdge client since 1986

Our Beginnings
One grant can open many doors for an individual, a community, a city-even pave a collective way of being and living. In 1985, Dov Torenberg & Ximena Florez founded MicroEdge and helped one organization, the Hearst Foundation, do just that-by developing a program tailored to its particular grantmaking needs. Since then, MicroEdge has provided countless grantmakers, nationally and internationally, with the tools to simplify their multi-layered processes of gift giving.

Our Strength
No other company combines MicroEdge's experience in state-of-the-art technology development with our in-depth understanding of the grantmaking process.

Our People
MicroEdge has more than 120 experienced staff located at our headquarters in New York City, all dedicated to serving grantmakers. Many of our staff have worked in the philanthropic community, so we understand your needs and workflow.

Our Clients
More than 2,400 private, corporate, government, and community foundations with more than 13,000 users have chosen MicroEdge as their technology partner.
